The Village of Kaslo and the surrounding area of North Kootenay Lake have a bold economic development strategy custom designed for a remote and rural community.  Drawing on extensive community engagement and capacity building economic development activities, Factor 5 co-created the Coordinated Leadership Strategy focused on helping local businesses and organizations build market-based solutions to local challenges and opportunities.  At its heart is a partnership between the Economic Development Commission and the Chamber of Commerce to each play a key role in connecting the business community with the needs of the broader community.  To date, the strategy has leveraged over 300K in grant funding to drive recovery from the pandemic through supply chain development, e-commerce and digital marketing and agricultural incubation.
